3 Quick Apply Full-time 6 hours ago Full Job Description Full Time, Benefited, Exempt Status partially grant funded 12 months/year Position Summary Under general direction from the Assistant Dean for Student Success, the Enrollment and Success Counselor for Career, Transfer and Academic Advising is responsible for the full range of general counseling responsibilities including providing assistance for academic planning, guidance and advice to the students to achieve their academic and personal goals.
Major Responsibilities Include:
Provide comprehensive academic advising, career and transfer planning services to students on a drop-in and appointment basis, as well as online, on the phone and at any SUNY Ulster campus site, as appropriate Serve as Partner Advisor to a caseload of students; develop a deep knowledge of career pathways; develop system for identifying and connecting with students Represent the college by participating in new student orientation and open house programs which highlight the importance of academic advising.
Provide group advisement sessions, workshops, and other activities to support student academic progress.
Ensure timely and comprehensive response to Early Warnings and other notifications of issues impacting student success Serve as a resource for faculty advisors; Address the unique needs in educational planning for students with no identified educational goal or course of study, students enrolled in basic skills courses, first generation, underrepresented and non-traditional students Maintain appropriate documentation and records.
Provide job search assistance, including resume and interviewing support; assist in coordination of on-site campus recruitment visits for employers and transfer institutions Collaborate with both instructional and counseling faculty and staff to assist students to developing an appropriate educational plan.
Establish and maintain an internal referral network of college staff and faculty to support student success.
Conduct registration and schedule adjustment activities as a Partner Advisor Utilize and keep abreast of student development theories and relevant applications to program development and supporting student success.
Participate in appropriate division and unit activities.
Participate in ongoing professional development activities in the field of academic advisement and educational planning, higher education student success, and cultural competency; attend conferences and training sessions.
Become proficient in all academic programs, including Continuing Education Serves on and/or chairs college committees; participates in professional organizations; Represent the College at regional and state meetings, as assigned.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
The unique needs of students with no identified education goal or course of study, students enrolled in basic skills courses, first generation, underrepresented, and non-traditional students.
Preparation for or experience designing and preparing advisement and transfer plans.
Knowledge of and experience using college articulation agreements and transfer requirements for counseling community college students.
Proficiency in the operation and use of personal computers utilizing various software applications (i.
e.
:
word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software, specialized software related assignment) including the internet.
Knowledge of all academic programs, including Continuing Education.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Work independently and exercise discretionary judgement within the scope of responsibility; Prioritize tasks and multi-task.
Collect, analyze and interpret data information to recommend solutions, strategic direction and goals.
Maintain student advisement records, prepare reports and correspondence.
Maintain the security of confidential information and materials.
Maintain digital database records as well as physical records and files.
Learn, interpret, apply and explain College and state policies and procedures related to assignment.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships using interpersonal skills including tact, patience and diplomacy, with the diverse constituencies within and outside of the College, in the course of performing duties.
Use mature judgement, compassion, ethics, morals and character to inform decisions.
Analyze situations, problem solve, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed action, and implement an effective course of action.
Work 8:
30 AM to 4:
30 PM Monday through Friday ; Work some evenings and weekends as required.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree.
Must have a minimum of two years' experience in higher education counseling, advisement or related.

Preferred
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Education or a related field.
Five years' or more experience in higher education counseling, advisement or related preferred.
Salary:
Initial salary is $43,000-$48,000 dependent upon qualification, per year with an excellent benefits package has been allocated for this position.
The College provides an excellent benefits package, including an affordable medical plan for employees and their dependents.

Supplemental insurance and benefits are offered on a voluntary basis for Flexible Spending Account, Dependent Care, and Accident, amongst others.

Additional supplemental Retirement plans are offered on a voluntary basis, upon the employee's election.
This position is partially grant funded and therefore contingent upon funding.
